I am a very traveled person and I just wanted a quite stay that had no disruptions of external noise. THIS LITTLE GEM IS IT, it is like stepping back into the 1950's. Quaint little courtyard with lots of seating and garden. New updated appliances and hardwood floors and one of the greatest showers with awesome pressure. 100 yards across the road from the beach and at least 10 restaurants and fast food just three hundred yards down the road. I have already put the word out to my friends about this little gem and they will be staying here. Very nice couple that run the place and with no reservations, we walked in and was accepted in less than three minutes and was totally checked in. Totally the little place for quite peaceful stay.
Clean, cute rooms, short walk to the beach, good service. Felt very safe and it was quiet. The courtyard is beautiful. Rooms have a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Also a hairdryer. Plenty of towels. There is also sometimes a cute dog there!
I booked two rooms in this inn last weekend and it was a nice place, close to the beach. Nick and his wife were very friendly and helpful. Will stay again if I come to Norfolk
Charming Stay at a Hidden Gem! This older motel truly exceeded expectations! While it has that classic roadside charm, it’s been nicely updated and is spotlessly clean. The room was quiet and comfortable — perfect for a good night’s sleep. What really stood out were the friendly, welcoming owners who made us feel right at home. The location couldn’t be better — close to everything but still peaceful. If you’re looking for a cozy, affordable, and well-maintained place to stay, this is it!
I do recommend the Bay Inn. I stayed there for like 2 weeks doing training for the navy. To start, the manager is very attentive and kind, and I could easily find him at the front desk at anytime. He will answer to any of your needs. But you shouldn't need much help because the rooms are well furnished, clean and free from bugs, smoke or foul odor, and adequately air conditioned and lighted. I didn't hear too much noise, everyone kind of kept to themselves. The hotel is kind of in a bad area (I'm not a fan of the strip malls and homeless nearby although it has very good public beach access and I did get groceries and do my laundry that same strip mall there is no laundry on site) but there are only two entrances to the inner courtyard where the rooms are, one by the front desk where the attendant always seems to be and one from the parking lot which is sort of out of the way so you can drive up without getting tangled in all that. The one other thing I'll say against the place is it feels kind of dated. The wifi was in and out but when I finally asked the attendant about it he fixed it immediately. It's great especially for what you're paying. In short the Bay Inn is a quiet well run hotel in a bad area but great for staying awhile on a budget!
Great place! Man that checked us in was very nice. The room smelled clean, recently renovated. The pictures are exactly how the one bedroom looks like. The linens smell like I washed them at home with fabric softener, not with commercial detergent. They had all the necessities that you may need. One criticism, not a complaint but the shower head could have been higher. However that is often a problem for my husband who is 6’3. The water pressure was amazing, the water was nice and hot. I did not want to leave this shower. They obviously take pride in keeping their place nice and clean. I like how the toilet and shower are in the bathroom and sink and vanity are in the main area. That made it more efficient for us to get ready at the same time. We DEFINITELY would stay here again.
Our room was very clean, newly renovated and the rate was really good considering how close we were to many places. 5 minutes walk to the Ocean View beach, around 30 minutes drive to Virginia Beach oceanfront. Parking can get tight but the location is safe with restaurants, parks and trails in close proximity.
Amazing little mom and pop inn right near the beach. Couldn't ask for better management! Staff was amazing and made me feel like I was at home. This is me definite "to stay" place when I'm in Norfolk!
